I'm totally new to this. I can do VCDs and SVCDs, but I'm lost when ti comes to DVDs. I've got 3 MPEG4 files that I want to put on one DVD, but I don't know how to do it. I'm used to using Nero, but the format it needs the files to be in to make DVDs is ISO or VBS or some wierd format.
Whats the easier way to burn it to DVD? Should I convert it to ISO, and if I should, what would I use to do this? Or is there a way to burn MPEG4 straight to DVD?
- Thanks

Take a look here:https://www.videohelp.com/convert, There are several guides that will help you convert the mpeg-4 to DVD compliant mpeg-2. Once you have done that you need to author and burn. Authoring will create the .vob files that Nero Needs, then you can use Nero to burn.

you can burn the divx as a DATA DVD. however, no standalone dvd player will recognize it. it can only be played on your comp's dvd-rom as a DATA disc...
if you want to get your divx to be a DVD VIDEO, then you need to convert it to DVD compliant MPEG2 -
OK. So I changed it to MPEG2. Then I authored it with ULead. But now what files are needed to go onto the disc?
ULead created it's own output folders. It created VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. It also has two hidden .chk files, as well as one file called dvd.iso. Within the VIDEO_TS folder is 2 .BUP, 2 .IFO, and 4 .VOB files. The AUDIO_TS folder is empty. Are all of these files used?
Also, within the folder that had my original video files, I think ULead made some files. In addition to the 2 .MPEG files I was using to make the movie, I now have 2 .PRA, 2 .PRA.PRX, 2 .PRV, and 2 .PRV.PRX files. Did ULead make these files? Where do they go? Are they even used? The oringal 2 files are about 4GB. These 8 new files are about 116MB. -
All the files in the VIDEO_TS folder, and the folder itself, should eb burnto on to the DVD, except the .chk files. The empty AUDIO_TS folder should be included too, for maximum compatibility.
The .iso file, how big is it? If is about the same size as the total contents of the VIDEO_TS directory, it is an image file, so you could burn that instead of the VIDEO_TS directory.
The other files are working files, once you have burnt everything to disk and you are happy it all worked, they can be deleted. -
When you say "all the files in the VIDEO_TS folder, and the folder itself..."
You just mean, IF the burning software does not create its own VIDEO_TS folder, I have to supply my own, in addition to the files. Right?
The .ISO file is 4.02GB which is about the size of my 2 files which make it up. Is it easier/more efficient/better quality to just burn that? Or stick with the .VOB, .IFO, and .BUP files?
Also one last thing. I was curious if I could view the file before I burned it to disc, so I had installed Daemon Tools. I'm not familiar with the program, so I was just fooling around with it. I mounted the .ISO file to see if it was viewable. But going into My Computer, I saw that neither my CD, nor my CDRW drive was there. (I'd seen this before when I was using VirtualCD a while back). SO I just uninstalled Daemon Tools, and restarted the comp. But again neither device appeared in My Computer. So I checked device manager, and both showed up in there, with yellow exclamations next to them. If I check the Properties of either one I get this message "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)"
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the devices, btu each time the same error comes up. Any clue what to do? -

I use Nero and burn the Video_TS folder/files using either UDF 1.02 or DVD Video mode, depending on which authoring app i have used. It works fine for me, no problems. Others have had difficulty with it. Not sure if it will burn a DVD iso.
Can't help with Daemon tools and missing drives, sorry.
As for previewing before burning, PowerDVD and I think WInDVD will play VOB files off the HD. Just select the .ifo file thats with them and it will appear just like a regular DVD.
