When I create a video file with Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7, all the text is slightly offset towards the left of the screen. This only happens when the file is rendered. When I do an instant preview it is centered. It doesn't matter if the text has effects or not. How can I fix this annoying problem? When rendering I did not crop and also checked the "keep origonal size" option. Its not a player problem becuase it also looks offset in; WMP9, Ulead MF2, and Stand alone DVD player.
Source video file format: DVD-NTSC compliant 4:3 6Mbs
Rendered video file format: same

Is there some setting that I have incorrect? The rendered text is offset to the left but the unrendered preview is centered and OK.

This could be way off the mark, but an attempt to help.
I've noticed all my Ulead programs tend to default to a particular project setting before I start. So, I got in the habit of checking project settings each time BEFORE I start any editing.
Perhaps the project starts out at different dimensions than what you're wanting to encode (or re-encode) to? When you change settings mid-stream, it'll warn you that the display will also be changed and you accept the change.
If it's a bug (that I haven't seen in mine) a workaround could be to just add a space or two before the text to force centering.
Sorry, if I've made any assumptions here and you already know any of this.
Good luck. -
Definetly some encoding/rendering setting is wrong but I haven't found it yet. At first I thought maybe I was cropping the left side of the screen but the cropping is disabled. All the settings are 4:3 720x480 NTSC which is the defualt DVD-NTSC setting that I start it with, at least all the ones I have found.
I have been adding 3 spaces in front of each text line to make it centered. -
Are you using the titler in Video Editor or are you using the CG Infinity program?

Im useing the video editer and inserting the titles into timeline "V1" and my Primary video into "Va". The left-offset occurs on all text with and with out effects. The text format is center alignment.

OK, I know how to get rid of this problem. The text offset only occurs when I create the video file with the "Perform non-square pixel rendering" option checked. But why?????? Here is the description of this feature from the Ulead MS7 help menu:
Perform non-square pixel rendering Select to perform non-square pixel rendering when previewing your video. Non-square pixel support helps avoid distortion and keeps the real resolution of DV and MPEG2 content. Generally, the square pixel is suited for the aspect ratio of computer monitors while the non-square pixel is best used for viewing on a TV screen. Remember to take into account which medium will be your primary mode of display.
According to this description and since I plan on watching it on my NTSC TV, I should use this option? But becuase of this problem I will not use it, I probably wouldn't notice the difference on my 27" TV anyway. Is this a bug or only my problem? -
Try downloading and installing the latest patch:
