    Is there any way to put divx codecs on a dvd, so that the player and the codecs are already on the dvd, so basically i just want to watch divx/xvid with out installing anything on someone elses computer... has anyone ever done this, is it even possible

    Very confused post!
    Can't decide which your trying to do from the post

    1. Watch DIVX content on a DVD surface
    If this if for your computer...Just include the divx codecs install folder outside the VIDEO_TS (video title set)
    If this is for your settop .. GO TO DVD PLAYERS on left column here
    and enter DIVX as search term... There are 1 or 2 brands of player that will play this content ( no codec required)

    2. Put DIVX content into a DVD..These files need to be transcoded and authored befor burning to DVD otherwise they certainly won't play in almost any settop and

    3. NO , the user will always have to install DIVX first
