I have a bunch of .mov files that I downloaded and I want to make into a DVD. The only problem is that when I open my Quicktime Pro and try to export or save them as anything different such as DV or MPEG2 it says that the file is protected with Quicktime 4. Here is the exact message I get:
"Couldn't export the movie because this movie does not allow saving"
Does anyone know how I can get around this I would like to burn it onto dvd but iMovie will not allow me to drag .mov file in and I don't know how I can change its file type.
Thanks Bunches

Generally speaking I would blame this on the fact these are "downloaded."
Can I give you a direct answer on a "get around" - no.
Just posting a reply since this has been at (0) replies for a bit.

I am having the same problem, but I am running quicktime 6.5 pro. the file (already downloaded onto the computer) has a flash track that i need to delete in order to convert the file into mpeg 2 and burn it onto a dvd. i would be able to do if i was allowed to export. unfortunately, the file i have is not allowed to be saved. what to do? how can i get rid of this no saving business?

Sounds like the BMWFilms
Basically you can't. The only way I can forsee doing is it to capture the video using something like Snapz Pro and capturing the audio with Wiretap and combining them back together. That's the only way I see to do it.
