  1. Okay, I've done the research on this and other forums. I upgraded and downgraded. I've tweaked settings and used defaults, But I have an annoying, nagging problem throughout all my 12 to 15 test DVD-Rs.

I would have used RWs but my standalone does not read them.
    JVC XV-SA600.

I'm compiling several movies in Premiere 6.5, exporting with the Adobe MainConcept Encoder (1.3 beta), putting it altogether in DVDLab 1.2, then burning it with Nero 5.5 w/encoder.

My first play video title starts slowly (like slow-mo), and the background music starts with jerks and fits. Finally after 10-12 seconds it all syncs up and runs perfect. Until later in the movie when I have a scene change, fading the background music and ending it and cross fading the video. Again, slow-mo video and jerky stopping of audio. Later all syncs up.

I have lots of video transitions that work great and I change music in several other places without problem. All music file are .wav in to Premiere.

I've used bargain disks, Verbatim, and Memorex with same results. My burner is a Toshiba SR5200.

I have exported as SVCD and compiled and played without problem on JVC. I have exported as multiplexed files and authored in Roxio Easy DVD with no problem on JVC. Of course, everything plays perfectly on my PC.

Adobe, MainConcept, DVDLab, Nero, Toshiba, JVC? Too many components? I really like DVDLab. I really do not want to add more "encodeware".

    Any help or ideas? Thanks,

I'm not sure exactly WHAT your problem might be but many people have trouble creating a compatable DVD recordable disc when using NERO so definately get NERO out of that MIX of software.

I've never used DVDLab but my guess is like most authoring programs it can output either an IMAGE file or a VIDEO TITLE SET (VIDEO_TS folder with your DVD files). If you can make it output an IMAGE file then do that and then BURN that IMAGE file to your DVD recordable using DVD DECRYPTER. If DVDLab only outputs a VIDEO TITLE SET then use ImgTool (classic version only!) to create an IMAGE file from your VIDEO_TS folder then burn that IMAGE file with DVD DECRYPTER.

NERO works great for all kinds of CD burning including music, data, VCD and SVCD etc. but NERO totally blows donkey balls when it comes to BURNING DVD discs.

That's Funny. I like that one.

I use Premiere 6.5 - Main Concept 1.3 - DVD-Lab 1.1. But I use RecordNow Max. Everything I make plays great on at least 25 different DVD players, PS2, and X-Box. You may also try to burn The video folders you created (using DVD-Lab) with Roxio 6, if it let's you burn previously created folders.

Never had a bad burn with Nero, what works for one may not work for another. My capped DVD's play in every stand alone they've encountered, thus far. Go figure ?

That's great for YOU but many many people have trouble with NERO and this is mostly because, I think, the damn program is updated SO often that there are many VERSIONS out there that are buggy IN REGARD TO burning DVD discs.

DVD DECRYPTER is FREE and works great every time. Plus it is FREEWARE.

If you need to make an IMAGE file from a DVD you created yourself with an authoring program that only gives you a VIDEO_TS folder of files then you can use the FREEWARE program ImgTool (classic version) to create an IMAGE file then burn it with DVD DECRYPTER.

No one EVERY had problems doing this whereas MANY people have problems with NERO

I've heard many nice comments about RecordNow Max but that program is not free so unless you got it for free with your DVD drive I see no reason to pay for it when there are EXCELLENT working FREEWARE options available.

  6. Thanks everyone. BTW, where can I find DVD Decrypter and ImgTool? Seems like DVDLab will only put out TS files.

I've not used Nero for anything else, but it suspect it may be a weak link in my scheme.

Maybe someone will explain Image File to me. Why is it that PowerDVD will play the TS files, but I cannot just write them to a disk?

  8. I agree with burning to a dvd folder or an iso image but I've burned about 45 dvd's with Nero and never had a problem.

    Just lucky I guess.

  9. Thanks for all the help and info. I'm still having the same problem with ImgTool, etc.

I was able to prove to myself that it is not my standalone JVC.

I'm trying some other options in the MainConcept encoder. If I get this resolved I'll post my results.

    Thanks again to everyone.

  10. Okay here it is:

I change the Adobe/MainConcept Encoder setting to write the audio as MPEG Layer 2. Imported files to DVDLab. Created Menus, and compiled DVD files. Then used Nero 5.5 (w/DVD encoder) to burn DVD.

Everything works perfect. Runs fine in my JVC standalone and my PCs.

Hope this helps someone in the future. Thanks again for the help.

    C.V.
