  1. hey guys,

    i'm new to the whole capturing thing...anyway, i'm converting home movies to dvd and wondered what the best program would be to adjust things like brightness and contrast and things like that with MPEG2s...thanks!

    TMPGEnc has the max flexibilty -little bit tricky getting it to accept mpeg2 though!!

    many capture apps will have the capability to adjust brightness & contrast at capture - I would say if you have a video you think is going to need adjustment overall, do a couple of short test captures while changing the capture controls, until you find a good setting.

    then capture the rest of the material.

    I think you may find, if you have extensive editing to do, it'll be easier to capture as an .avi and edit, then reencode to mpeg.
