When I put a blank Sony DVD+RW disk in my DRU500A, it says to format it. When I am done formating it, and try to access it, it returns the following error message:
"D:/ is not accessable. The request could not be performed because of an I/O Device Error."
Things have been working fine until this started occuring. I have tried a number of blank discs with the same result.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I don't think changing firmware would help.
I'm still using "d" firmware and have no problems with formatting -/+RW discs (Sony +RW, Philips +RW, TDK +RW, Sentinel -RW)
Note that Sony is replacing 18.000 +RW's, maybe you're one of the unfortunate
Btw, did the formatting work before or did it just happen now?Sony DRU-500A v1.0d
Toshiba SD-M1302 v1006
Philips DVDR885P v1.7/8
