Office Max has Khypermedia DVD-R for $19.99 after a $7 rebate for a 25 pack, less than a dollar each retail. They've burned at 2X fine on my hacked firmware Pioneer 105, although some have said they have a few too many dropouts for video. Still not bad for local for data..

is that a mail in or an instant rebate?

Micro Center has 5-packs of Khypermedia dvd-r on sale for $5 - no rebate needed.

and my Sony DRU-500AX likes those discs just fine for data or video...

I purchased 10 khypermedias not to long ago to use with my DVR105, they are ok as longas you do not fill the disc, if so they show their true colors and tend to be pretty bad. My advice is get some optodisc or riteks online and be safer.
