    hi, me again.

i've got a few vcd's on my pc, but the movie file is Avseq01.

So my question is how do i go about putting them back on disc as a VCD.

    Thanks

  2. You should be able to use any vcd capable authoring program (eg. nero) to burn the .dat files back to vcd as they are originally vcd files.

  3. if all you want to do is to burn those .dat files into vcd, then use nero's vcd template and (drag-and-drop) those files into nero and burn...

if you want them to be .mpg, i would suggest you use vcdgear's .dat->.mpg conversion. simply renaming those .dat files to .mpg files would work, but the .mpg files will still contain VCD headers not normally present in .mpg files

  4. I have a related question, however, i wish to go from dat file to mpg. I have used the vcdeasy program to try and convert the dat file to mpg, but i recieve an error displaying that the mpg does not have a riff header. I use isobuster to extract the dat, what can i do to fix this error and convert the dat to mpg? THNX.

If you use Isobuster then you can extract and convert at the same time, select "Extract but filter onlyM2F2 mpeg frames."

Or do you not have the original disk?

  6. yes i do have the original disc, but i think i did filter m2f2 frames only, ill try again. Also the vcd im ripping from was actually an mpg2 file that i put a vcd header on in tmpgenc, so that could possibly be an issue too.

If you use IsoBuster you should *not* expect to have the RIFF header normally found in .DAT files. That header does not physically exist on the disc, but it is added by the OS. The same thing happens with the .CDA files shown on Audio CDs, they don't actually exist on the disc.

On the other hand, you can simply use a standard copy program (e.g. Explorer). That would expose the RIFF header, which ought to be eliminated by TMPGEnc or VCDEasy.

    Best regards,

  8. Argh nothing but more problems, Zippy, i tried isobuster and filtered m2f2 frames only, and the resulting file was not even recognized as a DAT, but only a 'file', so i couldnt load it into vcd easy.

@cosmin: I used explorer to copy the dat file from the vcd, however, for some odd reason when i tried to load that into vcd easy i recieved an error saying that the file doesnt even exist! Also you mentioned TMPGenc, i wasnt aware that you could convert dat to mpg using that program.

Convert Dat 2 MPG in 1 easy step.....

Right click on DAT File and rename to mpg.

NOTE: for this to work you must have the following setting unchecked.....

C:\ GOTO TABS AT THE TOP - TOOLS/FOLDER OPTIONS/VIEW/HIDE EXTENSIONS FOR KOWN FILE TYPES

  10. wow thnx marvel, some solutions are so simple :)

  11. marvel2020's simple method will not remove any VCD headers still in the file...

if you're going to author this .mpg with another version of nero...or maybe another program completely, there could be some compatibility problems....

if all you want to do is just to play the .mpg from your comp, then that's fine.

Take the resulting dat file from Isobuster and rename it with the extension "mpg" , drop that into Vcdeasy and it works like a charm.

Note: To rename your file extension follow this....
