  1. Looking for a new player. I saw the listing on the site but it seems like it would take a day just to go through it all. Anyways, heres the main things

    -Good quality
    -Perfect VCD, SVCD, MP3 support
-Ability to shuffle with mp3 (any do this?)

Thats about it. Oh and under $100. But I dont want a skipping svcd one like I have now =(

    Thanks

Look at the Cyberhome and Apex players.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

Pioneer DV 250 - Walmart $78 Plays everything. Apex 3201 ...... Walmart about 6 months ago but can't seem to find them anymore (This allows me to turn off Macrovison off - [recent Carol Burnett]) This has played everything also but a little slow on eject and sometimes stalls for 15 or 20 seconds on some media I've recorded. But eventually plays. Also, JVC XV-S400 Walmart $69 - Flawless so far.

Hmmm .... I just went back and rechecked some old photo albums that I put on Picture2TV in SVCD and it played fine )although I didn't watch it completely to the end). Generally though, on Picture2TV ... if it starts, it will go to the end. I also stuck in my favorite selections of MP3s ...... and no problem. The JVC is only a recent purchase, so I haven't really given it a workout .... but the Pioneer DV 250 I've had since Christmas. Not a problem with it. I'll speak up if my JVC starts squawking ..........

  8. does the pioneer 250 have a random (shuffle) mode for mp3s?

  9. RoachForLife, i have Pioneer DV-444, it can random play mp3, so theres a good chance that also the DV-250 can. Now off topic... i would really not buy DV-250 myself, when the DV-360 is just around $40-50 more. Region free with remote control, SVCD subtitles, WMA playback, and JPEG/photocd. This regionfree thing, cant guarantee it, was said to be possible also with DV-444, but i had to get mine chipped anyway, many regionhacks posted are no good.

I would suggest if you are going to by a DVD player for VCD/SVCD/MP3 I would spend alittle more a get one that supports NTSC/Pal and of course the + / - R/RW if not you might just regret it in the long run.

Just a suggestion but my Apex 5131 supports all mentioned above and I picked it up at a Best Buy for $130 and this was a couple of years ago
and must say the best buy I made minus the dvd burner. I must say

    Then again just my 2cents.........

  11. I got a daewoo dvd-S150 for $47 at sams club and it will play anything I put in it vcd, SVCD, DVD-R NTSC and pal formats. If you do start burning dvd's the one problem I have had with it is that you must have the AUDIO_TS and the VIDEO-TS folders on the disk or you will get a disk error I found that out the hard way after I had about 25 movies done but that is ok my Apex 500w plays those dvd's so it is all good

    Roachforlife,
Yes, the Pioneer DV 250 manual lists Random Play for MP3s, although I haven't tried it.
