  1. I was wondering, say my PC was playing some music and I wanted to capture in real time...is this possible.

    What I mean is I want to capture the sound that is playing and save the clip to a file (*.mp3 or *.wav).

    Hopefully this is clear enough for all of you.

    any software where you can select your Stereo Mix as an input for the software will do it (make sure you disable system sounds before you record - like beeps, maximize window noises, etc.)

    Total Recorder from High Criteria will do it, as well as AAA Real Recorder and a host of others.
