Best work around would be to buy a copy of MacOpener 2000. It allows windows computers to read the Mac formated disks.
A friend burned a DVD-R on his Mac Powerbook (one of the new model ones, with the wide screen). Contents were mainly data & some music files (m4u format). The disk was Apple brand, with Apple logo and labeled "DVD-R". I think he used Toast but I'm not certain about that.
I couldn't read the disk on any of my PC DVD-ROM drives, from a Presario Pentium 3 machine to a new model HP P4 notebook computer, as well as a P4 Dell Optiplex. Sometimes the machines could sense a disk was there, but couldn't read anything on it.
Is there any way to work around this Mac/PC compatibility issue? If I could just read the disk, I have the proper codecs on my PC to play the m4u files. We tried transferring some of them via a flash drive and it wasn't a problem.
sorry if this has been asked. I searched thru the forums and couldn't find a reference to this problem.
thanks.

Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
It has a MAC FILE SYSTEM. It's not the DVD media itself.
Use Gemulator Explorer. It's 100% FREEWARE.
http://www.emulators.com/download.htm
It's near the bottom of the page.
It'll let Windows read any Mac format on any Mac disk/disc.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.
I use Apple DVD-Rs all the time on my PC. In fact, I like them more than most other discs. I am aware that Apple does make a special kind of DVD-r that is NOT compatible with any drives other than Apple's own. I saw some for sale on newegg with a note about them being different somehow. Check out Apple's site if you really need more info. So the disc you have could be one of those.
Just read Tx's post- I guess you can read those discs after all with an emulator. Good to know!
Thank you for suggesting Gemulator. I tried the program. Unfortunately it does not seem to support DVD, only CD.
I may have to try the non-freeware product.
thanks
