Hello all. I have 2 DVDs which are appoximately 1.5GB each in size and is a waste to put onto 2 DVDs. What I would like to know is if there is a very simple way to make these 2 different DVDs onto 1 DVD-R. I have them on my hard drive in 2 ISO files, but I can still rip them in file mode if needed. Also, if possible I would like to keep original menu and chapters for both DVDs. If someone could please help me out on this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

ok sorry that i keep replying to this message, but i DO infact need help on this issue. I tried the method in the post that was below mine but that did not work so well since the first dvd had vts_01, vts_02, and vts_03. Also I want a way to be able to choose the first or 2nd dvd on a menu and that is not avaliable using the other tutorial. so if someone could indeed help me that would be greatly appreciated. thanks again and i'm extemely sorry.

What for you are asking for with proper orig. menus is probably possible but I have no clue how to do. I believe it would be extrememly difficult though. It would also require some extra menu(s) to choose which movie to go to early on.
Good luck....your're gonna need it.

just rename your files and cut and paste to one folder
and use dvdtoolbox fix the ifos -
Hey vance didn't u say the 2nd movie can only be accesed by going to title set 2 manual which the requester does not want? Want's orig. structure.

People offline and online ask me this all the time. I don't know either. I think Scenarist can do it, but I'm not very good with that program (my employees compile Scenarist-based discs, not me), and it's not an option for 99% of the people on this board.
If any Scenarist users can confirm/deny this, please do so.I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
copied from a previous posts by me
when u do what u want to do
u will have to drop the menus
it a little too complicated to explain it
but it is impossible to change the ifo for the vts_01_0 (main menu vob of movies)of both discs when u are combining stuff because that ifo had u going to a specific point of the movie and combining that with other dvd info is impossible
but u can't do what u want because ifos navigate to a certain part of a dvd
that was made for that specific dvd not for the other dvd
now u could use a variation of my method to get the menu things on the dvd
too much typing to explain here
but u are going to have to drop the vts_01_0 vobs (main menu vobs) regardless -
thanks all for the replies but none of them would work for me.
vance: i tried your method and it didn't work, i understand it will work if i hit 2 on my dvd remote but some dvd players will not allow that to work.
txpharoah: i agree with you, i think scenarist can do it too, but it's way too complicated for me and very expensive too i think so that is out of the question.
if anyone else has any other suggestions that might work please let me know. at this point i don't really care if i get to keep all the chapter points as that's what fast forward and rewind are for. but i would like to attempt to keep the orginal menus or maybe i would be able to create my own menus in dvd-lab or another program like it. I just don't know if that's possible, and if it is how would i go about importing the video from the ISO files i have. Here is some extra detailed information if anyone needs it.
Details of Disk 1
===========
vts_01_0
vts_01_1
vts_02_0
vts_02_1
vts_03_0
vts_03_1
vts_03_2 <---seems as if this is the only one that has an extra vts file
Details of Disk 2
===========
This disk has the exact same structure as Disk 1.
Also, i was mistaken, there are no chapters in either of the dvds. There is just 3 menu selections on each dvd and if you hit the chapter advance button it just brings you back to the main menu. so this seems to be something that can be done very simply with dvd-lab but i still do need some help please. how would i go about turning each video (one of the menu selections, i guess a vob set?) into an mpeg2 that i could import into dvd-lab? or do i not even have to do that? if someone get help me along on my way i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for all the great help! -
most dvd players (if not all)
should have access to title 2
u usually have to use your imagination to find it though
i really thought my toshiba sd-2805
didn't have it. but i refuse to quit trying
i finally found it
i had to push "display"
and then push the arrow to 2 to access it
what does display have to do with tiltle change? -
vance: i understand that that's your method and that it works for you and that's great. but i specifically said that i didn't want to use that method. i'm going to be making these dvd's for my parents, sisters, and other family members. They're not as technically savvy as the rest of us. As simple as it may seem to you, me, and many others, it's not simple for them which is why i said i didn't want to use that method. I want to make it as simple as possible for them and have everything be visual so they can just point to it and know what video they are seeing. I don't want them to have to remember the secret button 2 or whatever other button is it on all the various dvd players each person in the family has. I understand that this is going to be difficult to do which is why i asked my question here hoping that one of the many people here would be able to offer up a solution. You were one of those people and i appreciate your solution but it just isn't the solution i'm looking for. I hope you understand.
I explained my problem a little more indepth in my last post and it seems to be a lot simpler than what i thought at first, but i still need a little guidance. So if anyone can help that would be appreciated. Thanks. -
philly33flyers,
If you don't need to keep the menu's, my SVCD-DVD conversion will do the job for you. Keeping the menu's are more trouble than it's worth. You won't even have to convert the audio, so skip steps 3 and 4.

I used Ulead DVD Workshop to put 2 movies on one DVD. It works but when the first movie is done playing it goes back to the main menue.

ok i understand why u won't do it my way
but whatever way u do it
u are still going to have to lose the menus
if u want to do it
when u do what u want to do
u will have to drop the menus
it a little too complicated to explain it
but it is impossible to change the ifo for the vts_01_0 (main menu vob of movies)of both discs when u are combining stuff because that ifo had u going to a specific point of the movie and combining that with other dvd info is impossible
but the second movie will continue playing after the first -
Ok, I've pretty much decided what i want to do and how i want to do it. I am going to use DVD-Lab and create my own menu. Since each dvd has vts_01_1 and vts_02_1 they can be easily imported into DVD-Lab. Where I run into a problem is with the 3rd vts set. This comes as vts_03_1 and vts_03_2. The first half is on _1 and the second half is on _2 naturally. Apparently I can't just create a new movie in DVD-Lab and then import both into the movie one after the other. Is there any way to join these vob files so that it will turn into just 1 vob file or is there a size limitation to the size of vob files? or is there any way to turn these 2 vob files into 1 mpeg2 file?

philly,
I would do as stated by me near bottom of this link....original menus are gone though.

jnk76,
i did what you suggested, but using dvdlab and the dvd turned out excellent. i created a root menu from scratch which had 2 buttons pointing to 2 different menus. the first menu is a screen shot of the original menu on DVD 1 and the second menu is a screenshot of the original menu on DVD 2. So in essence i was able to keep the original menus by just simply adding a root menu before the 2. Hope that makes sense and thanks to all for the help! -
Glad it worked which means it should work for me when I need to do it.
Screenshots of org. menu are great but I thought you wanted to keep motion menus.....which as I stated......for 2 or more movies is extrememly difficult.
Congrats on getting output u r happy with!

if so i will tinker with it and make a new guide.
