  1. I downloaded some movies that are .avi's and went to convert some of them to svcd, but I get an error when importing that says, cannot open or unsupported. What could be the problem? How could I check to see exactly what format they are besides the file extension? Any help would be appreciated.

  3. Go to the tools section and download avicodec. Load your avi in it and it will tell you what kind of film it is and if you have the proper codecs installed.

  5. I downloaded and ran avicodec, but every time I try to import the movie it crashes it out and it asks if I would like to send error message to Microsoft. Could the files just simply be corrupt? They came from share reactor. There are probably 50% of these files doing this. The others can be imported into TMPG fine.

You did not try to adjust the Direct Show priorities, did you?
    Hello.

  7. Yes, I made the direct show the top priority. After doing that, instead of getting the error message it justs crashes the program.

How do I do that in avicodec? I may need a more thorough explanation. I am fairly new at all of this. Your help is greatly appreciated.
