  1. Hi fellas,

I got myself a NEC ND1300A this week and have finally managed to burn a disc, the problem is that I suspect that my normal DVD Drive (not the burner) does not accept the media i bought.

I bought 10 x Imation DVD+RW and when i put the finalised disk in the Samsung DVD Drive it will not recognise it. The disk plays back perfectly on the burner but not on the player.

Heres a link to the DVD drive I am trying to play back on.
    Linkage

The spec says that its compatible with DVD-R but there is no mention of rewritable media or of DVD+.

Basically do i need to go out and get some DVD-R media or is there a way to get the DVD+RW that i have work?

    Thanks for reading
    Peace

    Jah

  2. From your link:

    Supported Media Types CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW

No mention of +R or +RW. The 1300A will happily burn DVD-R though, so its not a total loss.

  3. Samsung isn't exactly a supporter of the DVD+R/RW format so they never write if their drives work with it or not.
I don't know if there are different versions of the SD-616Q but someone is reporting success with reading DVD+RW here (even with a real crappy Prodisc DVD+RW) and HP/Compaq has used/uses this drive in their computers and I doubt they would ship them with a DVD-ROM that doesn't read DVD+RW.
Check if there is a firmware update available to your drive, it might fix your problems.
