  1. I burned a SVCD in nero enterprise edition. Burn went fine, but when I went to play in DVD player it played fine for about 30 minutes, then just locked up and glitched and flashed green back and forth in the video. Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Try burning again at a slower speed.

Not any faster than about 18-24x

Best results at 8x for me.

Not sure why it works that way but it does.

There have been lots of threads on the topic of burning speed. Some people have no problem burning at the highest speed while other people (like me) only get reliable results at 8x or less. It seems to be a combination of the CD burner, media and the DVD player. If you find what works for you then stick with it.

  6. i've personally recommended burning no faster than 4X...as faster burning will exacerbate any error....

not sure about the technical side...as in theory burning speed shouldn't matter very much....but if i remember correctly from awhile ago, there could be some reasons why burning may cause an effect...again, only from memory and not sure exactly how accurate:

    1) slower burns make deeper grooves in the dye??? may improve readability.

    2) slower burns gives the dye longer time to dry after being burned..so the edges of the pits are straighter and more defined....i guess if burning at max speed, the dye may not have enough time to completely dry, so the edges of the pits might be a little big jagged.

  7. Thanks Poopyhead, being an engineer I can appreciate and thoroughly understand your explanation of burning and the way the speed can affect it. Thanks. I learned something today...and everyday.

    there are other causes:

    bad rip

    bad burn

    bad media

i've also experienced similar glitches as well. however, if i just reburn the exact the same .mpg on another CD-R, even from the same batch, the problem usually goes away. seems to be a random fluke.
