    Hahahah Nice
I guess my only defense is I could perhaps out run with speed and then would get a few extra miles on you while you stop for gas ever 30 min!

What's the gas mileage on that BEAST!

My dad has that problem, he's 6'4'' He has a Toyota Avalon which apparently has nice head room for those taller.

For myself, weighing in at 5'10" sporty cars are just my thing I feel like a shrimp in the sea when I get into those big suv's

    What would that be then?

A people carrier or a jeep? Sounds very American if you ask me!

Generally speaking, any sort of large 4 wheeling car that you would take off road (but still drive on road) is SUV.

    Examples

    GMC Envoy
    Toyota Highlander
    Lincoln Avaitor
these would all be SUV class cars

Non SEDAN (4 car toyota corolla) type cars

  12. yes us americans do like tank-like vehicles but hey gas is cheap and suvs are somewhat safer (to the ones in the suvs at least)

  13. Unless I'm mistaken, (and perhaps for the very new SUV's -- or as us Australian's call them, 4WDs), SUV's are generally less safe in a motor vehicle accident than a standard sedan -- in terms of both the rate of accidents AND the type of injuries sustained in an accident.

4 wheel drives (generically known as land rovers in lots of the country, or at least where i'm from) always seem to be driven by mums taking kids to school around here. the one farming family i used to know didn't have -any- and i see hundreds go past our house every week, as we live 5 doors down from a school.
not saying anything about women drivers, but all of these kid carrying land rover mums are hideous drivers! maybe it's because their vehicle is so big, they just plough down roads and hope for the best. then their kids are even worse, they'll cross in front of you when they're less than 5 metres from a zebra crossing! it's a good thing i have a good supply of emergency pants.....

  17. As a family man my car life is pretty BORING.

    Honda Accord

    Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Everyone knows what they look like.

Chicks never look at me in my car anymore unless I'm changing while driving

Try putting a lincoln navigator up against a hyundai elantra and we'll see who wins

  19. Ah ha, so an SUV is really a jeep! Next, what does RV stand for? I know what the vehicle is, just never found out what RV means!

I must post a pic of my 406 if I can remember to.

    Recreational Vehicle

generally associated with someone doing cross country trip, but wants to camp in style. I believe the stereotype still holds that they are mostly owned by those retired who want to see the country from the road yet still have a "home" feeling.

anything else you would like to know?

    By the way,
    the Lincoln Navigator

is by far the largest SUV I have seen ever! Its SRP is $50,000.

How much is a litre of petrol or diesel? And how many MPG would you get out of one of those RUV's?

For reference, petrol & diesel are about 78p a litre here ($1.24), that would be £3.50 a gallon ($5.58 ).

    JESUS!

well, we have three stages of petrol (gasoline) sold by the gallon

    Regular - averages $1.67 US ---- £1.05
    Super - averages $1.69 US ---- £1.06
    Premium - averages $1.74 US ---- £1.09

1 gallon is 3.79 liters, so divide by 3.79 and this is the price per liter

    Regular - averages $.44 a liter ---- £0.28
    Super - averages $.45 a liter ---- £0.29
    Premium - averages $.47 a liter ---- £0.30

I did my best to convert to £ but I may be off
I assumed its £0.6272 to 1 american dollar

My car (accura rsx) gets about 35 miles (56.25 kilometers) to a gallon on average.
An SUV can vary, but I believe can be anywhere form say 14 (24.1 km) to 25 miles (40.14km) per gallon

  24. Your gallons must be different to ours, we have 4.56 litres/gallon, and yes our petrol has extortionate taxes applied.
