I'm trying to burn a SVCD with my new fancy QPS Que! FireWire CD-RW drive (Model QPCDRW161040FEM) and I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I believe I have a valid mpg2 file so that's not the problem. I'm able to burn data CDs no problem using the Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic that came with the drive. It seems I need to spend $99.95 to upgrade to the Platinum version to burn VCDs. I'm trying to avoid spending this money by using freeware - and the fact that I think the Platinum version of this "upgrade" software can't burn SVCDs, only VCDs. I tried using VCDImager Easy v1.0.0 but it gives me a message at start up that says "No Cd Writer found or ASPI layer not installed". I'm running Windows 2000 which automatically recognized the drive and thus doesn't use ASPI at all. With VCDImager Easy I can create bin/cue files or cdrdao toc files but I can't burn them with that program. Can I burn these files using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic? The answer, I think is, probably but I don't think this will create a valid SVCD disk that I can play on my DVD player. This is where my lack of knowledge kicks in. I don't understand if it's just a matter of placing the correct files onto the disk or if there is something more basic on the software driver level that needs to be in place to make this work. Should I return this drive and get my money back? Any help is appreciated.
