  1. So I am really heavily considering wasting my money on a digital projector soon. But before I do this I figured what better place to get input than DVDhelp.com. Here is the deal, I love movies. I am looking to set this system up in a room approximately 10'x15' in size, along with a computer, decent surround speakers and a device with the ability to decode ac3, dolby surround 2 and dts. I would like to mount the projector at the ceiling level, and maximize the viewing screen as much as possible without losing quality. So far I am looking at the ViewSonic and Epson models both having a 1200lumens lamp. The epson model also support HDTV. Can anyone explain the sizes, and I am sure is also based on the distance from the projector and lumens. Further more I am looking display it on a wall instead of a screen. Well I look forward to the feedback.

someone here once suggested an InFocus model... the X1

    http://www.infocus.com/products/productview.asp?site_lang=1&site_region=1&prod=x1&c=4

Under $1000, HDTV ready, good specs, lightweight, and a name like InFocus (one of the best projector manufacturers) - can't go wrong.

They were running a $100 rebate about a month ago.... don't know if it's still valid or not....

  3. I suggest PM'ing BJ_M. He seems to be the best person here in terms of knowledge on digital projectors.

i have a wealth of information on projectors also ..

    :P

    X1 still a good deal

Other good models for not a lot of money right now

Epson TW100 (MAKE SURE its the newer VERSION !!, now a very nice model)..

Boxlight Cinema 20HD (older model made by sanyo but often sold on sale -- very good picture) ..

Sony VPL-HS10 Cineza (cheap wide screen projector - good value and picture)

Runco CL-510 and CL-510LT (more expensive than above but awesome picture for the money)

Epson PowerLite S1 (like the x1 -- very very good value for the money - often heavly discounted - very good reports but i have not seen the picture from this model)

NEC HT 1000 (the runco are slightly more money but the NEC has a superb reliability as well as a great picture) ...
