I decided to invest in a TV-card so I could backup some of my VHS tapes on to DVD. I bought a Medion MD 5044 PCI card (from my local aldi for £30). I have managed to get my TV channels running through OK, but when I connect up to my Video Recorder (from the out aerial socket on my Video to my aerial input on my TV card), I get sound but no picture. All I get is a black screen. What am I doing wrong?

The software I am using is PowerVCR II, but I have also tried VirtualDub.

I don't know, maybe not having your tuner on the same channel as your VCR?

Anyway, why aren't you using the composite inputs (does it even have one?)? That would be the "yellow, red and white" RCA jacks.

The card has the following connections:

    Aerial connection for FM-Radio
    Aerial connection for TV
    Video input (Cinch)
    Video output (S-Video)
    Audio output, 3.5mm plug

You probably need to set your VCR to output using its internal RF modulator. Then set your tuner card to receive its channel (probably chan 3 or 4). Most VCRs today default to the composite baseband video out.
