  1. Hallo,
all of a sudden - just after having had finished a batch file - TMPGEnc quits with the following report: "Read error occured at address BFF7A125 of module Kernel32.dll with 007DFF78". Trying to continue is rewarded with a system crash, closing it down gives two more reports: "Runtime error 216 at 0003D964" and "Failed to refer to Tab No.0" .
Any attempt to start TMPG again triggers the same Error Report. Reinstalling Win98SE, reinstalling even different versions of TMPGEnc after cleaning the registry showed no improvement. The Options cannot be reached because the read error comes up before.
Please, does anyone has a suggestion how to solve this issue or is a
complete new installation of the system the only way?

  2. I don't know if this will do it but I used to get a serious amount of windows error messages untill I download Ad-Aware and that fixed the problem. but then again you reinstalled windows so this might be a long shot.

  4. from a cold start of windows (i.e. not rebooting..but actually powering off, then on), press ctrl-alt-del and close all programs other than "explorer" and "systray"

now try to open tmpgenc and see if the problem occurs..

  5. Well, thanks to everyone for the good hints.
I settled the problem with a heavy clean up in the registry using Fit-It Utilities and Registry Medic: any version of TMPGEnc leaves three .dllīs
after uninstall in the registry and the possibilities of registering the program-long strings. Obviously they donīt harmonize. More over I renewed the Mole-templates (fresh from installation disk), and that did it.
    Thanks again.

  6. I have the same problem described here. Could anyone help me out and give me a few tips how to clean up the registry? Do these programs do it for you? What does that mean Mole templates?
