  1. I burned data to a CD-RW Memorex and when i tryed to open it to see if it burned ok the icons for the programs that i burned on that cd would not show and then my computer would lock up so i tried to burn it again on a differant Memorex CD-RW and it did the same thing. I tried 3 times on 3 diferant Memorex CD's.

After that i burned the same files to a Maxell CD-RW and when i tried to read the files it worked!

    Strange huh?

That would suggest that your burner doesn't like that brand, or, more likely, whoever made that batch of disks for them.
Get the Infotool from Nere and read the data from the bad ones, see who made the masters, although this might not be enough, as the final maker uses his own dye, etc, and the data is etched onto the glass, then nickle master that they press the recording layer with.

  3. Some of the Memorex disc i tryed i jusy bought and some of them i bought over a year ago so i don't think they are from the same batch. I don't buy Memerorex anymore i've had trouble with them in the past with a differant brand of burner.

Anyone else dislike them or have similar problems?

  4. I ran infotool and it says the Memorex cd is made by Infodisc.

Does that tool not work with DVD's?

Memorex is the only CD-R(W) media that ever gave me trouble. I returned some CDR-W's a couple of months ago and recently a friend gave me some CDR's that are bad as well.

Ok, I thought I was the only one but Memorex really does "bite the big one". I have a shitload of CD backups that dont read anymore. They lasted less than 3 mos and just stopped reading.

I havent bought Memorex ever since and now this thread confirms it.

Is it live or is it Memorex? We don't know because the damn CD wont play anymore

    probably for that same reason.
Memorex is supposed to be a decent brand, however for cd-rs and cd-rw they just spin in my drive and make loud screeching noises. Ive never purchesed memorex because of that (and the simple fact i just cant burn to them!)

    sorry.
