  1. Terminator 2 Extreme, Protected wmv files ,how 2 merge & convert

They seem to be protected by a Licence of some sort. I can copy them to the harddrive but I still cant get them converted. What Programs do I need? Has anyone had any success with this Movie?

  2. couldn't you convert the DVD files on disc 1? just to the regular smartripper->dvd2avi->tempgenc->nero routine...

yes, the .wmv files are higher quality than the vob files on disc 1, but since you're going to be encoding them to some kind of (S)VCD or even divx...your output bitrate still is gonna be pretty low compared with the DVD or .wmv files..so even though the .wmv may be a better source, the vob files aren't far behind.

also, keep in mind the .wmv files are only of the "original theatrical version"....only the vob files in disc 1 contain the special edition with extra scenes spliced in...

could be, but since the final SVCD is very limited in bitrate, it most likely will not utilize the higher quality source. i'm sure there will be a little difference, but when the SVCD bitrate is maxed at ~2.5 mbit/s vs. a potential of maybe 15-20 mbit/s, it's not gonna matter very much if you start with a 10 mbit/s source or 20 mbit/s source if your final output is a measly 2.5 mbit/s max....might even go under 2 mbit/s for the SVCD
