Wait for the LiteON DVD burner, it will be a third the price, and work just as well!

I notice that the Plextor only has a 2MB buffer. Argh...8x burning requires a sustained I/O throughput of over 10MB/sec. Why is it so hard for the optical storage industry to move to larger buffers? Seems like it's been stuck at 2MB for years now (first in the CD-R world, and now for DVDR). That lossless linking stuff better be truly lossless because you're going to be needing it a lot at those speeds.
But even so, I want one! -
Anyone know when is the release date for this new plextor 8x dvd burner? I checked the plextor website and nothing there mentions this new dvd burner.
-
it is shipping in 2 weeks I understand and is on the plextor web site -- the real plextor website that is -- (its where i copied the above info from) -- http://www.plextor.be/
having used plextor cd-r's for years (mostly all scsi) -- i can say that though there may be cheaper products - so far non can match in reliability and all other features time and time again of which plextor is famous for ... -
The link you gave is for the PLEXTOR SITE IN EUROPE. Would that also include the USA? I didn't see it on the USA site. Thanks.
-
plextor releases in usa about a month or so after the rest of the world -- prob because in usa it has to go through channel distribution unlike anywhere else .
