  1. I have a video in .mp4 format
I'm don't really sure what kind of encoding this is
but the lvd doesn't seem to be able to read this type
is there any way around it?

    Thanks

MP4 is merely short for MPEG4, the format for most AVI files.

Right click on the file, open properties and open summary. The bottom item is rhe type of video compression and a search (Google) will get you info on this.

You ought to be able to re-encode this file usjng Dr Divx or Virtualdub.

Sometimes just renaming the file *.avi works!

    Taken from a Dutch forum;

    Dear Sir,
There will be another version in the bottom of OCT or earlier in Nov, which maybe support the subtitle with those files *.srt. and audio format with *.ogg. also folder structure.
Please check our website http://www.liteonit.com.tw/DC/english/csd.htm for the latest firmware
    update.
    Best Regards!
    AW
    But ....

    Dear Sir,

We sincerely apologize for the changing date of the latest firmware release
    because of the software
    development.
Since the date still can't be confirmed ,but one thing can be sure is the
    improvement list.
    Here you are:

    1.*.srt
    2.*.ogg
    3.folder structure for mp3
    4.some improvement of the Divx

Thanks for your understanding and keep on supportinf us.
    Best Regards!
    AW
Still no news on DivX 3 but all the people who want subtitles are served.

  4. Has anyone tried divx or xvid files encoded with DTS audio on this player? I have read that this player can handle ac3 audio, but I have not seen any comment as to regarding DTS. I know it does handle DVDs' DTS, but did anyone try avi files encoded with DTS audio?

Flashed the 302 firmware and sent Gandalf and the Balrog down the chasm in Divx3 low motion - almost perfect now but they did stop twice for a ciggie break!

Verdict - close but still no coconut. I'll still re-enc Divx3 to Xvid.

Haven't checked the subs as I don't have any HK movies at present. Report on this in a week or so.

  13. My machine now plays subs (.srt), no problem..

    Note:
Your .srt file must be named EXACTLY the same as your movie, (only with a .srt extension of course).

  14. No it needs to start with the movie name.

    Movie.avi
    Movie.Eng.avi

    Works ok.

The devil finds work for idle hands!!

In an idle moment I decided to reflash the firmware all the way from 0224 AND included 0301Beta - hey presto! Divx3 low motion now plays perfectly and the AC3 soundtrack is perfection personified!
