  1. Anyone,

I need to to make an mpeg2 file for DVD authoring menu that follow the next requests:
    - when the menu is displayed on a 4x3 TV, all the image height is shown and we loose some vertical picture on both sides. The aspect ratio is kept. We only must see the picture centered on screen.
    - when the menu is displayed on a 16x9 TV, all the image is visible with the correct aspect ratio. Here we can see a little bit more image than in 4x3 TV monitor.
The original avi format is PAL 720x576 (for 16x9 letterbox encoding).
I think that the solution is encoding in Pan & Scan format.
How can i do this? Can i use tmpgenc to encode this file this way or is there any other software to do that?
    Please HELP ME!!!

That Pan & Scan or Letterbox settings are typically done in the authoring software. I do know that later versions of CCE will let you embed that info somehow in the MPEG itself though. I don't know of a setting in TMPGenc that will affect the playback. The only ones there are for formatting the input source before incoding.

Just as an FYI, you can also chane the settings directly on the IFO's your authoring software generates using IFOEdit. You can find it in the TOOLS section. It will let you change such things as Aspect Ratio, and Pan & Scan/Letterboxing settings.
