I have no idea actually. I'd be going with my girlfriend's family. They go every once-n'-a-while and asked if I would be interested in going the next time. I think it would be sweet to meet up with all of ya'll while I'm there.... Of course I'll probably be made fun of even more after ya'll see just how much of a Southern accent I have.Originally Posted by Will Hay

1) People I'd like to meet, primarily for a beer, because I'm 100% sure we'd have a real good time/laugh and get on pretty well:
defense; tgpo; Craig Tucker; pacmania_2001; flaystus; flaninacupboard; freak_in_a_cage; energy80s
2) People I'd like to meet as I'd probably learn a little more from them, and not just about video topics:
virtualis; gmatov; adam; housepig
Just my tuppence, or two cents (depending on where you live).

Like I said to tgpo, anytime you're in Australia feel free to stop in for a cold one. -

I'm touched. (and no, I don't mean that in the twitchy, paranoid, wearing-tinfoil-hat sense)2) People I'd like to meet as I'd probably learn a little more from them, and not just about video topics:

Actually, anybody within spitting distance of London, I'm taking a family trip this December, and I'm sure there will be a night where I want to get away from my mother-in-law - so we should get a pub night happening...
so Will - I can get most of the way there...
this also assumes, of course, that I don't freak out in the intervening 5 months and make everyone hate me...- housepig

Hate is such a strong word. I think that "dislikes-me-so-much-that-he-wouldn't-think-of-touching-the-breaks-if-I-walked-in-front-of-his-car" is a much nicer word.Originally Posted by BJ_M

Actually, I can't remember it ever being as hot as it is this week.

As far as meeting people, I think keeping them on the other side of this screen is great. When people find out I know computers/video/etc in person, they never stop with the questions. I'd much rather talk football or about the weather or something. This site is my escape when I get trapped online with a project or research, nothing more. And the best part? I can always turn it off. Getting rid of people is sometimes a bit harder than flicking the power button.I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
Would it be that difficult to organise an annual regional meet (i.e. each country would have it's own meeting point for it's DVDRHelp citizens) and if that goes well, a 5 or 10 yearly international meet?
It sounds like a good idea, but I fear that we may not be as interesting in the flesh as what these forums make us out to be...........Regards,
Rob
