due to the fact they are 1. dvd's and 2. too large to fit onto a cd-r you cannot. Im pretty sure you can burn them to dvdr (as long as they are less than 4.4 gigs) but I do know there are a few that are DVD-9 which then couldnt be burned to dvdr because of the size.

maybe ps2daddy will chime in, he seems to be the resident expert on what you can and cant do with ps2/ps2games.

I'm pretty sure it requires a mod chip as well.

Hello lowlow42, Galactica and the rest of the dvdrhelp forum
    wassup

Yes you can burn a dvd game onto a cd-r but its 1000 times easier to make a dvd-r backup

PS2 DVD-Rips (defined as a dvd that had been copied onto a cd in the PS2 world)
Some games are split up on 2-5 disks. You ususally have to save at a point and continue on another disk.

Caution: making dvd-rips for the ps2 is not for the faint at heart and you also can do this in a pc only environment right now cant be done directly on a mac

You have to downsample either the video or audio or leave some video or audio out.

You need special tools to edit the files and replace them in the right order and add dummy files on some games its too much hassle I think but to each his own. Most of the times it is cut scene videos that are deleted and dummy files erased

Then if you dont have good no swap modchip like the messiah 2 or DMS3 (tons of others out there these are just some of the best) then you cant play the games. No solder mod or knife trick wont work on a lot of these
    Unless you patch them.

The patches can be found a few places on the internet

The reason no solder mod wont play these games are that there are table of content issues and depending on the boot disk you cant play certain dvd-rs unless you have other disks with means at least 4 swaps vefore you can play a game)

For around $200 (a good price for a reliable dvd burner) you can make a DVD backup in less than 45 minutes versus the weeks of learning how to make dvd-rips and the hours and days that you will spend even after you have the process down pat

Also now people are making DVD-9 Rips
They split it up onto 2 dvd-rs or they downsample or leave out video or audio to make it DVD 5 DVD-R

alright, thanx guys for all your help, i might just wait to get a dvd burner. i have a no solder modchip for my v7 ps2. now do i get a dvd+r burner or a dvd-r burner and what kind of discs? it seems like that is the best and easiest way to do things. thanks again

  11. Before you get the burner just try a few burned discs / different media and see what works. Even more helpful if you can know how the disc was burned and with what software.

    you'd have like what 5 cdr's??"

Sometimes games fit on one cd but dvd writers are so cheap these days few use that route anymore.

Instructions on how to use the magic chip should have come with the chip, if not just search the net for magic chip instructions.

Well does anybody know where I can find out how to "back-up" copies of Ps2-Dvd Games on cd-r, I know it'll be a long process but I'm willing to do it. I found out psx backups dont work on Swap Magic.

    Goto www.ps2ownz.com
You have an awful lot of reading to do reoraginzing files ,downsampling viedo and audio, and all sorts of fun stuff like that.

Some people make rip kits where they do most of the work for you but the energy and time spent is not work it I think $185 for a this (a pioneer A06 4x DVD+/-RW)
    http://store.yahoo.com/livewarehouse/pidvdvcdmudu.html
is worth the peice of mind

If you would like a chip installed send me a pm you just stick it in and it works pretty much no fuss no muss

    But best of success man

You need an older PS2 gameshark that comes with a psone boot disk if you want to do that
