  1. Hi, I recently started using DVD Decrypter and I noticed that the Read Rate while ripping a movie (Snowwhite and the seven dwarfs) is only at 2X speed, while my DVD-R/W (Sony DRU-500A) is capable to read at 24X speed! Is there any reason for this "Slow" reading or is it automaticly set by DVD Decrypter? And if so, can I change it?

    Thanks in advance!

It's not DVD Decrypter. DVD-R drives are notoriously slow for ripping, many are locked at 2x. You should use a separate DVD-ROM for ripping.

aside from that, your Sony is a 24x CD-rom reader - it only reads dvd-rom at 8 or 10x.

but you'll never get that rate ripping, because the Sony is locked at 2x.

like the previous poster said, get a different ripping drive. I've got a Lite-On 16x drive, and on some rips I've hit 16x - most of them average around 8-10x. $40 at my local computer shop.

  4. also, try not using your DVD burner to rip movies.....you're going to end up overusing (overheating) your DVD burner by ripping and burning with it....

just get a cheap DVD-ROM strictly for ripping (~$30 for artec 16x)....it's gonna be a lot cheaper to replace a broken DVD-ROM, than a broken DVD burner

  5. Thanks for all the replies!

And I may say, a good tip poopyhead! It's indeed less expensive to
    replace a dvd-player than a DVD-R.

    Thanks!!!
