Hi, I recently started using DVD Decrypter and I noticed that the Read Rate while ripping a movie (Snowwhite and the seven dwarfs) is only at 2X speed, while my DVD-R/W (Sony DRU-500A) is capable to read at 24X speed! Is there any reason for this "Slow" reading or is it automaticly set by DVD Decrypter? And if so, can I change it?
Thanks in advance!
Greetz,
Remco

It's not DVD Decrypter. DVD-R drives are notoriously slow for ripping, many are locked at 2x. You should use a separate DVD-ROM for ripping.

aside from that, your Sony is a 24x CD-rom reader - it only reads dvd-rom at 8 or 10x.
but you'll never get that rate ripping, because the Sony is locked at 2x.
like the previous poster said, get a different ripping drive. I've got a Lite-On 16x drive, and on some rips I've hit 16x - most of them average around 8-10x. $40 at my local computer shop.- housepig

also, try not using your DVD burner to rip movies.....you're going to end up overusing (overheating) your DVD burner by ripping and burning with it....
just get a cheap DVD-ROM strictly for ripping (~$30 for artec 16x)....it's gonna be a lot cheaper to replace a broken DVD-ROM, than a broken DVD burner -
Thanks for all the replies!
And I may say, a good tip poopyhead! It's indeed less expensive to
replace a dvd-player than a DVD-R.
Thanks!!!
