  1. When burning discs, I'm often getting an error through DVDxCopy and nero that reports a "reset" error.

Nero says it's a "reset reported" error.

    DVDxCopy says:

    "Write operation not succesful.
Power on or bus reset error reported by DVD recorder.
    Driver error code=02062900h.
The disc is not succesfully recorded.
    "

What is going on? I am able to write some DVDs, and all those that fail get the above errors.[/b]

  2. I don't have an answer however I would first look in windows device manager and make sure that the NEC burner has DMA enabled. Also I would (until I had the problem figured out) disable any programs running in the background prior to doing a burn. Finally use RW media until the problem is resolved to avoid wasting media.

I should also add that the error your getting could be a hardware issue like for example memory chips not seated or even the IDE connector going into the NEC drive or motherboard not seated correctly, so maybe check that.

  3. I shoudl clarify that I was able to make copies yesterday using DVDxCopy Xpress.

Today not able to make any copies...

Also, the NEC ND-1300a is inside a USB 2.0 enclosure to make it external. The DVD drive is able to function properly reading data so I don't think it's a problem with the IDE connection or USB 2.0 cable to my computer.

  4. I have never had that warm fuzzy feeling about using any external burner CDR or DVDR. Bet the drive works fine if installed internal.

  5. I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work inside the USB 2.0 enclosure if it works to read all media just fine.

  6. May have found my problem!!

    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=820759

This Microsoft KB article describes a problem with USB 2.0 devices issuing a "bus reset". They have a hotfix available and it will also be distribtued as part of WinXP SP2.

    Time to call MSFT support

That drive is messed up. I had a repackaged NEC 1300a in a USB/Firewire enclosure by Cendyne. Get rid of it or sell it. Get the Pioneer A06/106 because you can get one for around $220.

I'm really starting to think it is the drive, because these errors are pretty consistent. Gotta see what www.ussa.com's return policy is.

You could always auction it on Ebay or Yahoo.
