I downloaded Quicktime a long time ago and since I don't use it much, I want to uninstall it. So I go to my Add/Remove Programs to uninstall Quicktime. It asked if I want to "uninstall everything" or just simple "uninstall". Since the first option was not recommended, I picked "uninstall" to uninstall. Then it said that the uninstallation is completed successfully. The list of programs there refreshes and I scroll down to see Quicktime still there! I went to remove Quicktime again and went through the same process 2-3 times. How can I get rid of Quicktime altogether?I don't want to use "uninstall everything" because it might screw up my Windows 98 and then I have to find time to install Windows again! It might be good to restart, but I don't have the time and besides, I've restarted so many times before because of my carelessness with deleting files.

You cant ever remove it! Once an apple product is installed on a PC it slowly takes over everything until one day you wake up and your computer is shaped like an iMac Flat Pannel!
hahahah just kidding
Call me crazy, but isnt there an uninstall app in the Quicktime folder itself?
I had it installed on a PC i was using and running the uninstaller in the quicktime folder in C:/programfiles/Quicktime worked for me
However, i believe the Add/Remove programs just runs that uninstaller.
i could be wrong.
One other thing, cant you just to and trash the C:/programfiles/Quicktime folder? and then remove the one in your Start Menu?
Just my 2 cents -
The general way to completly remove a program is to
1) use the "add/remove program" in Control panel
2) delete its folder from your hard drive
3) delete the shortcuts
4) If you know what you are doing, navigate to the hkey local machine software folder in the registry and delete its key.
In general, that will remove a large percentage of programs completely. Also, some programs will not require all these steps."A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct."

For one thing, after I uninstalled using Add/Remove programs, the Quicktime icon on my desktop disappeared but the icon in the System Tray still appeared after startup. Plus, I did a search thru my computer for Quicktime related files and it found tons! Some in the Windows folder, others in the Control Panel and registry and stuff like that. I don't want to mess up my computer.

you can remove them from the Start menu just by right clicking on the QUICKTIME folder and then choosing DELETE
other than that, id toss the C:\Program Files\QuickTime folder because thats where the app is residing.
the ones in the SYSTEM/Quicktime are just the plugins. There should be a QTpluginuninstaller in that folder and you can remove them with that or by manually tossing them.
that shouldn't screw things up.
also, if your trashing it because it takes lots of space its only about 10mb in all.
