Dance Ejay Techno 4
for example " Ulead MD has generated errors........"
its the same message for all software (obvioulsy the name of the software is different for each aplication)
It is really starting to waste a lot of my time its usually when I'm processing something that takes a while Examples: Encodiing a dvd, Editing movie footage e.t.c
My spec is as follows
amd 2gig processor
512 ddr ram
60 gig 7200 hard drive
Haupauge Win Tv Pvr 250
Nvidia Ge-Force 2
Soundblaster live 5.1
and a Dvd rom and a dvd Writer
I am running windows 2000 at the moment
Can anyone sugjest anything to help or has anyone else experienced this
I also sometimes get a blue screen that says beginning dump of physical memory and then shortly after my system re-boots.

I am not overclocking it at all.
Its acctually a 2400 processor I just put 2.gig because thats what it really runs at because its a AMD.
Why do you ask?
Cheers

This may sound odd but you might try inserting your RAM into another DIMM slot or if you have two sticks remove one and then the other, you might have a bad RAM stick.
Also turn off any virus scanners when you are offline and all nonessential programs running in the background. -
Thanks mate, I'll try the Moving Ram thing in the morning when I am not so tired.
I have also downloaded a Ram Tester! have you ever tried one of them? are they any good?
I don't have any Virus Scanning software to disable appart from the Windows De-bugging thing built into 2000
I'll let you know how I get on anyway

Well, encoding a movie is very CPU intensive, and editing a movie is very memory intensive. I was suspecting that your AMD was overheating (did your motherboard come with a status monitoring program?). But since it is occuring randomly, I suspect either a hardware conflict (most likely), a software conflict, or even as MOVIEGEEK suggested, some defective hardware.
What I would do is remove (physically) all RAM and all cards, check their contacts, then re-insert them, insuring that they are fully seated. If the problem still exists, then physically remove all non-essential cards, let the computer boot and unallocate the old resources, then power down, install ONE additional card, then boot and let the computer reallocate the necessary resources. Repeat this until all cards are back in the machine.
If the problem still persists, then remove all cards non-essential for basic system operation, then operate the system for a day or two, and re-insert the cards one at a time, and then operate the system again for a day or two until you find the problem child.
Also, sometimes the order that the cards are inserted will fix the problem, due to poorly written device drivers.
