I was wanting to put all the extras on a disk by themselves and the movie and menu on a disk by itself.... how do I do that? is DVDShrink the best program for this ?

when i open disk, it shows me the movie, menu and extras on the left, and I can delete certain things like subtitles, audio, etc on the right, but how do I delete the entire thing? I was thinking I could totally delete the extras and then that might be small enough to go on a disk by itself, then again on another disk, delete the movie and have just the extras...

    any help is appreciated

also, iv never used dvdshrink before, after I get it to fit, what do I use next? IMGTOOL and DVDDECRYPTER ?

ok, right now i put in Gangs of New York #1 in my dvdrom... i opened DVDShrink.... doesnt look like its possible, am I correct? when I go to reauthor, i can select the movie itself, and I can also select Title 12-15 which are the "extras" and then Title 15 is the "end of disk 1 menu" but where is the begining menu????

  3. you can't choose the menu when you reauthor with DVDShrink.

The onlyway would be to use IFOedit to strip every extra or use CloneDVD.

I sugest you don'T include menu since the movie is less than 4.3gig on both disk (make movie only and you won't compress)

Personally I made the 2 disks fit on 1 after hours of work

Ok, so tell me if this is what I should do?

put in disk 1, reauthor then choose only the movie, then click backup onto my HD

then do the exact same thing for disk 2, then I will have 2 seperate .ifo files...

then open dvdshrink again, instead of OPEN DISK, i choose OPEN file, then can I open BOTH these files and then hopefully they fit on one disk, if not, then can I compress them to fit on one disk ?

and as far as normal discs go... not necesarly this particular one because it seems be be a little different... but

do most you guys NOT have a menu? also, after I do backup and get the .ifo file, then what? do I use IMGTOOL to make a .iso file, then use dvddecrypter to write the iso file to dvdburner?[/list]

  5. It's quite easy to answer this one. (Sorry for the late reply but it took some time to author this post)

There is no such feature in the current version of DVDShrink. If you visit the DVDShrink forum (http://forum.digital-digest.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=48) and move on to Feedback and suggestions you will find that this feature is among the top of the "most wanted features" list.

The way DVDShrink offers to accomplish this is the following:

    1) Go to full disk mode. Reauthor will NOT give you any menu what so ever.
    2) For the extras titles you want to "get rid of" remove all audio and subpicture contents and set the compression to "Still Pictures".
    3) Uncheck unwanted audio and suppicture streams from the remaining titles.
    4) Adjust the compression levels on the remaining titles so that the disc will fit on a blank disc. I prefer to use level 9 or 10 on the extra material and then use as low compression as possible on the main movie, but this is since I care most about the main movie. To be honest I think that the difference between level 4-6 and level 9-10 is clearly visible but at level 10 the image is still watchable.

If you want to remove titles from the DVD Structure, you need to find other ways. I have successfully used IfoEdit to perform this task. But this is a hit and miss operation and some times you might be lucky, some times you won't. I haven't tried this together with DVDShrink, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work. I'm not sure if DVDShrink allows oversizing of discs (if it will write the files if output is larger than 4.3 GB), but I assume it will.

If you like to give it a try, then do this:
    1) Follow the process above, but keep track of the size of the extra material you want to get rid of. Then oversize the disc with the same amount in DVDShrink
    2) At this stage you launch IfoEdit, open VIDEO_TS.IFO and press the DVDPlay button and let the "disc" play. Then you need to navigate through the menu to all the material you want to keep! This is to get IfoEdit to tell you which titlesets you may not remove. When you have surveyed the disc navigation, press exit and IfoEdit will tell you which VTS_XX-files it has played. These files are needed in order for the disc to work. IMPORTANT: Close IfoEdit after this step
    3) Remove the VTS_XX_[1-??].VOB files you don't want/need. Keep the corresponding VTS_XX_0.VOB. These might contain menus and other navigation packets needed for the disc to operate properly.
    4) Open IfoEdit again and open VIDEO_TS.IFO and press "Get VTS Sectors".
    5) Close IfoEdit and if you're lucky you will have a disc with titles removed the ugly way.

Using this approach the navigation system on the DVD-disc will not be altered, and íf you choose to go to a title which is no longer on the disc, your player are likely to complain in some way (freeze, return to menu, go somewhere else,... you name it).

There is also a chance that your disc won't play at all. It all depends on the structure on the original disc, your DVD-player and if you are a lucky bastard or not.

Considering these steps, it would be a lot easier for us end users if DVDShrink had title removal functionality with updating of the navigational structure. Who knows, someday it may all be there... Patience...

    Good luck

ok, this may sound like a dumb question, but im pretty new to this and have been using DVDDecrypter, DVDFab, IMGTOOL then DVDDecrypter again.... it works, i keep all quality, menus, extras but has to go on 2 disks and takes a long time, about 2 hours per movie i do...

anyway, im gonna try out the dvdshrink... i think I understand everything (pretty easy) but once I get it compressed, etc and I do backup and the IFO file goes to my HD... then what? what programs do I use to get onto a dvd-r ?

  7. DVDShrink produces a set of DVD-compliant output files (IFO, BUP and VOB files). All you need to do afterwards is follow the same process as you have done with DVDFab. Use IMGTOOL to create an image and burn that image with DVDDecrypter.

Personally I use Nero for all my DVD creation and it works fine for me. I know other people have issues with Nero. If you feel comfortable with your process (imgtool->DVDDecrypter) and the resulting discs work with your equipment you should use that with DVDShrink as well.

ok, right now iv opened dvdshrink, reauthored and and ripping the MOVIE only with no compression and saving to hard drive.... my question is, can I do the same thing with disk #2 of gangs of new york, and then rip them into 2 seperate folders on my hard drive..... then can i open dvdshrink back up and join the 2 together??? instead of OPEN DISk, do i do OPEN FILES ?
