I know this may be off topic but maybe someone has got an answer for this. I bought an external microphone to go with my sony trv25 minidv camcorder. The microphone was working good for 6 months. Then all of a sudden I can hear these random high pitched beeping sounds in the recorded video. It does not make this sound when just listening to the microphone through the camcorder. The beeping sound only shows up on the tape after you listen to it. I tried turning off the power on the microphone and the beeping sound is still there. It is even there when I remove the battery??? I disconnect this microphone and listen with the camcorder internal microphone and I get no beeping sounds on the tape.

Is it a microphone that runs directly from the hot shoe accessory on your camera, or a cold shoe microphone ?.

It plugs into the side panel through a wire to a plug. It does not use the hotshoe. The plug socket on the side says mic plug in power. I dont know why it says plug in power since my microphone has a battery. I am thinking that this plug in power may have something to do with why my microphone has the beeping sound when there is no battery in the microphone.

All i can suggest is putting another battery in the microphone and see if that stops the beeping, if it dosen't then maybe it has developed a fault and you need to get it looked at- it may still be under warranty
