Well what I'm planning to do is gut the DVD Player and put a computer inside of it. I would need one of a certain height but I don't know what the exact specs are yet. I'll pay for the shipping if anybody has one they could donate to me.

Do you watch McGiver, you know the guy that can fix a car with a safety pin. I guess you have your reasons. What you do for fun? I'll call someone who has a few on a pile in a basement. You want it tall huh?

Alright thanks for the help man tonight at about 11:00 p.m. est time I'll be home and I'll post the height that I need it.

Actually you may be able to pick up a "big box " DVD player at a minimal cost instead your request for a donation. I mention this because the form factor for DVD players is getting very small. The older larger box players are being sold off at retail at firesale prices.
For example the 900bk JVC that entered the market at $300 US not more than 6 months ago can be purchased now for about $100. Its a tray model which may not fit your bill but I use it as an example. Its huge but it is a 7 disk model. Won't work for your project.
I'd look around for older DVD players that might be able to be purchased locally for not much more than the shipping costs associated with your donation request.
edit - my suggestion my not be the cheapest route but it may be more predictable. Look for open box sales locally. -

I've done the same with dead VHS machines. Kind of fun and frustrating at the same time
Stuff a Pinnacle Bungee and a shuttle FV24 mainboard + powersupply and harddrive all in. Cut the case to fit the connectors and powerplug. Glue a small trackball on where the shuttle knob was..... I'll have to post a picture one of these days. It was a fun little project to make a PVR. I use firewire for the CD when I need it, so no removeable disk drives are installed. I could have fit a drive from a laptop if I needed it.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
Yes one of the reason I want to do is, is to make a setup DivX player but there are other reasons. I estimate I need some thing that's 4 inches in height or so and 18 inches length and about 9 in depth.

I made on of these: http://www.junkmachine.com/nintendo/
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
