  1. Anyone have any good templates to go to AVI from a ripped DVD?

  2. By AVI I assume you mean DivX, take a look to the left to learn how to master DivX files. There is no 'template' just choose the resolution and bitrate (use a bitrate calculator, look under Tools) as desired.

  3. Thanks for the reply...Actually I am looking to go to an uncompressed AVI as I would like the final video product to be in WM 8. I don't think microsofts command line encoder can go from MPEG only AVI?

  4. Well if it's uncompressed then there's no template. It'll be the 720x480 6000kbit/s 48k audio source. This will be a HUGE file, you might want to use huffyuv to compress it a little

Just rip DVD, use DVD2AVI to make D2V and wav, apply VFAPI codec to D2V, load avi/wav in VDub and generate uncompressed AVI.

  5. Thanks for the tips, using huffyuv makes sence. Two questions if you don't mind...

When/How do I apply the VFAPI codec?
When applying the huffyuv codec would I do this in DVD2AVI or Vdub or both?

Thank you very much for your help

  6. 1) Rip DVD
    2) Run DVD2AVI (choose desired audio track)
    3) Run the VFAPI codec on the D2V file, this will generate an AVI file. The AVI file is linked to the D2V file, which is linked to the VOB files. So so don't erase anything.
    4) Run VDub. Open the AVI and under audio choose 'wav source' (or something like that) and load your wav. Then choose video | compression and the huffyuv codec. Then just save your AVI.

You can find links to d/load huffyyv to the left under tools. All other programs are linked at:
