Hello
When I capture an AVI clip it looks like the picture on the left here:
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/images/guides/p573073/Interl.jpg
When I convert it to MPG2 and choose "Field Order B" the lines are gone. If I choose "Frame Based" they stay. Is it normal?
I am asking because my first 2 projects, there was no lines in the AVI.
I am capturing with Ulead Video Studio (ATI AIW 7500), the source is the s-vhs output of my TiVo. I tried capturing with other software and it's the same. I did not change any capture settings from the previous project.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks

I know but are they supposed to be there, in the AVI?
Sorry if it sounds dumb...I've read the forums, and looks like I am supposed to capture interlaced. Anyway there are no options in VideoStudio to capture interlaced or not...
Thanks for the help! -
Yes those are interlaced lines, but fear not. MPEG2 supports interlaced source so there is NO NEED to de-interlace. In fact trying to de-interlace will only lower the quaility of your encode.
That is you're not doing anything wrong. Just capture and encode as nromaly to MPEG2, the lines will not appear when played on your TV.
As for why you didn't see the lines previously (w/ Ulead). Some software programs can 'de-interlace on the fly', for example many DVDs contained interlaced sources (eg. TV series). But if you played them on your PC they would look terrible, so the software de-interlaces them for you. I don't use (or know if) Ulead does this but that would be my first quess.
