    Is they're such a encoder on the market? Preferrably freeware? I find I have to use one for VOB to Mpeg2(one I have doesn't support 720x480,just 480x480)and export to TMPGEnc for video cleaning, and then to an authoring program to create compliant DVD video. I have My DVD and TMPGEnc DVD for that.

    I should mention I'm trying to clean up a VERY noisy VHS to DVD-R transfer that a friend did. I'm pretty new at that. Any recommendations for process and encoders would be appreciated.

    Well, if you own Virtual Dub MPEG-2 mod, you can load it there, and frameserve to TMPGEnc.

    Just to clarify(it's one of those days! ) you mean Virtualdub with an Mpeg 2 plugin? Thanks I'll look into it.

    There is an Mpeg 2 plugin in the tools section.
