  1. The last few Divx/Xvid movies I've obtained (I did not encode them) have had problems with the audio being out-of-sync during playback. I have no idea why. Here are the details:

    - All of the videos have mp3 audio and I am using Windows Media Player 6 or Media Player Classic to playback. I don't think it's a Media Player problem because I've tried playing them in several other players.

    - I tried running AVIfix on the movies, no luck.

    - mpeg movies play back fine.

    - I defraged last night and that wasn't the problem.

    - When I open the files in VirtualDub a popup says there is an inproper coding of the VBR audio encoding in the AVI... I doubt it's a coincidence it happened to the last 5 movies I've obtained but let's assume the encoders didn't know what they were doing. I tried decompressing/recompressing the audio to CBR, with no luck.

    - Sometimes, the videos will playback with NO PROBLEM in Divx Player 2.1. I don't know why, but I do not want to use Divx Player (one video has separate subtitles, not to mention they SHOULD work in Media Player).

Can anyone tell me why these won't play back properly? If you have any other questions or troubleshooting tips let me know...

    Thanks

  2. Ok, I will reply to myself... I ran scandisk before I booted and that seemed to fix the problem.
