  1. I took some home movies with my Sony MiniDV camera. I used the widescreen function on the camera and also used a widescreen lens attachment.

What is the best way to author a widescreen DVD that won't be distorted (horizontally squished) on 4:3 tv's? I realize that the camera's widescreen isn't true widescreen since it simply adds black bars. Im using Premiere 6.5 for capturing. Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Alright, since I got no response to the last post I have come up with another question.

Should I set the camera to 4:3 if I'm using a widescreen lens attachment?

I went ahead and captured the video in Premiere and exported it as 16:9 mpeg2. To my surprise there were no black bars when played with videolan which seems to suggest my camera doesn't add black bars to a 4:3 image. It actually seems to create a real widescreen image. Im pretty sure it doesn't use the entire ccd but hey atleast it is real widescreen.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
