  1. After wasting 100+ Sony CDs, I still haven't burned a single satisfactory VCD (NTSC) yet.

I use ULead VideoStudio (V.4) to capture from DV, the AVI file looks normal when viewed on PC. So I think the capture process is ok.

However, when I want to make a VCD out of this AVI file, I just cannot burn a good VCD, the pictures are always watery, jerkey, jumpy, little mosaic all over every where ...

I tried Nero5.5, My DVD Video Suite(V.4), ULead DVDPhotoShow2, Ulead VideoStuido (V.4), Dazzle Digital Video Creator 80, and etc ..., none of them can burn a good VCD for me.

Is there any expert on this forum can help me out? thanks a lot.

    My PC system:

CPU -- AMD Athlon XP 1800+
    RAM -- DDR PC2100 512MB
    HD Drive -- 40GB, 25GB free

By the way, when I burn the VCD out of digital photos, the picture quality is super. I just can't burn a good VCD out of AVI file, I am going nuts ... Please help.

what encoder do you use to to convert from AVI to MPEG. i would suggest TMPGEnc for vcd. and if you still dont like it try making an XVCD.

  3. Hi Cecilio,

    Thanks for quick reply.

I didn't use any encoder to convert AVI to MPEG, because the softwares didn't ask for it. I think it will convert it automatically because the software just ask me to input any video file including the AVI file.

Do I have to use a seperate software to convert AVI to MPEG before burning a VCD?

well you dont have to, cause nero has its own built in encoder and some other programs do to, but i think it would be better to use a seperate encoder. check in the tools section you will see TMPGEnc listed get the latest version. its a demo, but i think only a demo for MPEG 2. and vcd is mpeg 1 so i think its like a regular program if you would be making a vcd. when the wazard starts just do this

and then finally put next and hten on the last box put browse and put where ever you wanna put your encoded MPEG movie. and hten just burn them. but you do know that you can only put 80 minutes on a vcd if you want it to be completely standard ok.

Nice post, Cecilio. Did you know you can add more than one image to a post by simply editing your last post and adding an image for each image you wish to add? Unless you want to pad your number of posts

That never works for me. What C---- did was the workaround I use.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

If someone is posting at the same time you are, it could affect the continuity of your answer.
