  2. I have same problem, too. Usually it freezed in the middle of the movie or close to the end. Sometimes it will jump back to beginning of the movie. It happened on my Sony dvp-s360 and my combo TV/DVD/VCR panasonic as well. Maybe it has to do with the media, but I used Imation +R, Maxwell -R and Memorex -R. All seems to do the same thing, except Maxwell seems to work little better.

I used TmpGenc to covert, DVDit PE 2.5 to burn it into my Sony DRX510 with firmware version 1c. Everything went perfectly, except playing it on standalone DVD players.

Anyone has any idea why? I may go buy another DVD player and try it soon.

Now, if it media problems, then why is the best brand. And if it is a bad media, can I get a good media copy movie from a bad media over???

    Thanks.

  4. Could this be at the same time as the layer change?? The Sony (that my daughter now has) was doing the same thing. Each particular movie would do this at different places during playback and each title consistantly at the same place. I tried cleaning the inside of the player which seemed to help quite a bit. With a 3-year old player its bound to have some dust bunnies laying around.

  5. Thank you. I will try to clean my old Sony dvp-s360 DVD player. However, it happened on my new Panasonic TV/DVD/VCR combo which I purchased about 6 months ago as well.

So, I am not sure 100% at this time. I burned another movie yesterday into a Maxell -R without put a DVD label. My DVD players played flawlessly for the first time. I will put label on today and play it again and see.
I also burned another movie into Verbatim +RW, using 2-pass VBR instead of CBR on TMPGenC. It took much longer to encode it. I played it flawlessly without label. Again, I will put label on today and will see.

Rightnow, I do not know for sure what is the cause yet. I will try different medias and see. Hope it's not the inkjet label paper from CD Stomper, because I don't even know that I can peel them off. It stick on DVD pretty good.

    Anyone has any suggestion!!!!

  6. I'm back.
I burned a Maxell -R without label. It played fine.
I burned a Verbatim +RW without label, different movie. It freezed close to the end once.
I did put label onto Maxell -R above. It did play fine.
I burned another different movie on Verbatim +RW. It played fine.
I am really confused now. All played fine on my computer. All MPEG2 files aslo played fine in my DVDit PE2.5 before I make disc.

    Any ideas???

  7. Hmmm... maybe your player just likes certain media better than others. I assume (dont do this at home kids ) that you burn'ed them all exactly the same way. If not, I have no idea... sorry. Besides, like Mermaid, I was having problems with 'normal' store bought movies. Best of luck.

  8. I have the same problem. No matter weather it's bought or burned.
Most does freeze, a few doesn't and the ones that does always freeze at the same spot.

It only occurs on my 3-4 yrs old Hitachi DVD505E, never on my cheap Lumatron. *grmbl*

Fed a cleaning-DVD to it which did nada, zip and nothing about the freezing problem.

I was told to take the DVD to a repair man but it will most likely be cheaper to get a new Lumatron which does everything the Hitachi can for 1/4'th of the money.

  9. After all, I think it had to do with either the movie or burning software. I burned on 5 different Medias DVD +rw, +r, -r. All freezed at certain spots. Most were at very close to the end of movies. Somes in the middle of movies. Somes freezed and then continued. Somes freezed and locked. If you stop then forward pass that point then it's okay. These are very frustrated. I tried with and without label on DVDs before and after burning, NO HELP.

I tried on my friends DVD. It freezed on her DVD, too. So, I don't think DVD players at all.

SOFTWARE? SOFTWARE? SOFTWARE??? My DVDit PE2.5????

    Anyone know???
