  1. Hi guys, I'm new to this forum so I hope I'm posting in the correct section here.

Ok, the problem I would like to solve is this:- When I convert (S)VCD to MPEG2 to burn onto a DVD-R I use Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2 in the final stage of the process, this piece of software allows me to add a slideshow of .jpg files both before and after the movie. I have attempted to do the same with the .vob files ripped from a DVD but Movie Factory just freezes up.

Does anyone know of any software/methods of adding slideshows to either the beginning or the end (preferably both) of a movie when ripping/burning a DVD from the original.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. Let me see if I can give you a few ideas...

There is SoundForge's DVD Architect which allows you to author your own DVD. In other words, you can pick any MPEG files and JPG files and it will create a menu layout for you.

If you drag and drop an MPEG file, it will create a box and that is one selection in your menu. Then you can also create a SLIDE SHOW which can be another selection in your menu. It is not part of your original movie or MPEG in the sense that after it finishes the movie, it automatically goes to the slide show. I haven't played around with that feature enough to see if I can link the ending of a movie to the slide show.

However, if you are dealing with a movie that you authored or editted yourself, why can't you just append the slide show to the end of the movie you created? In other words, if you used Premiere or Vegas video to create the movie, can't you just add the JPG files at the end and create a slide show right after that and in the menu, you can just insert a chapter where the slide show starts?

  3. Thanks for the reply but it's not a movie I authored myself... I want to add these jpegs before the movie when I'm copying original DVD's... I know how to add them to a MPEG2 file but not when I'm ripping/burning a DVD from the original.
