On my standalone DVD player, a Samsung S124, NTSC VCDs have an annoying problem. Whenever the camera changes at the bottom of the screen a faint black bar pops up, then vanishes instantly. This happens on every NTSC VCD (though not on SVCD or DVD - they work fine). It hasn't always happened either, only started in the last 2-3 months. I just assumed it was a fault with VCD playback in general, but I just discovered it doesn't affect PAL discs.
I never usually play PAL VCDs, but tonight I did. No black bar flickers up, they play perfectly.
Could this be a hardware fault with my DVD player, or could something else be causing it?
