Hi, I hope some of you people can help a novice.
I have a FlyVideo 98 tv card which works well and on a previous computer it worked well when capturing from VCR and camcorder. Now I have a comp with AMD Duron850, 128mg RAM and Vibra 128 sound card but have problems. The video capture is great, and sound is basically ok, ie it is clear and loud. But, it does not syncronise with the picture and seems to get ahead, and every few words it 'stutters' while picture catches up. (I think this is what happens!)
I downloaded a trial version of MGI VideoWave4 but this clashes with something I have on the computer and freezes when I click on Capture - other parts of the program seem to be fine.
Any ideas of how I can synchronise audio/video or another software package I can trial? Thanks all, Roger Bideleux

  2. Use CRTL-ALT-DEL to turn off everything running in the background so the CPU can concentrate on your capture. Leave only Explorer and your program running.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try this solution on both the VideoWave4 trial and the original software.

  4. Try capturing with AVI_IO or VirtualDub, which have features to maintain better audio synch. Also, your system might just be having trouble with decoding the video in real-time. Many capture formats are not intended to be playback formats. Try converting your video to a playback format like MPEG-1 to see if there really is a problem in your video.
