VobSub lets me rip the Japanese subtitles from a Region2 DVD without having to use an OCR feature like those found in Subripper and SubRip. But Vobsub occasionally does not rip all the bitmaps.

I discovered this specific problem with VobSub when ripping "Moulin Rouge!". In Chapter 18 for example, all the English bitmaps get ripped properly, but the Japanese ones don't show up until half way through the chapter.

When I look at the .idx, all the timestamps appear to be there, so I must assume that the bitmaps weren't actual saved into the .sub file. BTW, is there a tool I can use to view the contents of a .sub made from a VobSub rip?

Subripper and SubRip will properly allow me to save all the bitmaps to disk, and then create an index for them in multiple different graphical formats, but none of them seem to work when playing the movie with WMP.

From experimenting, WMP using the DirectVOBSub plugin seems only to accept the graphic-based .sub files created from a VobSub rip (--if I am mistaken about this, please let me know--), or text-based sub files like .srt and .smi files. But, to create a text-based subfile, one must use the OCR feature of SubRipper or SubRip, and this is excuriatingly slow for Japanese.

Question) Is there a tool that will take the numerous .bmp files created by Subripper and put them into a single .sub file so that DirectVOBSub will understand it?

Thanks.
