    Sony DRU 500a Help plz?

I have a sony dru-500a, firmware 2.0f, its burnt many different formats absolutely fine, but
i did a reg-clean to tidy up loose ends on my pc and since then anything i try to burn on cd or dvd has a problem.
it starts the burn fine, then goes thru the burn right up to the point of closing the disc or writing lead-out.
then no matter what software or media i use it write errors , seems to be a buffer under-run error.
i have no idea what to do to fix this, i am in desperate need of advice to fix this problem .
    any help greatly appreciated.
    thx.

What did you use to clean your registry? What OS are you using, ie. 98, XP ect. ect. What program are you trying to burn with?

Sounds like you may have removed a/some registry threads that belong to your burning software. You may want to reinstall that software Or restore the threads you removed from your system registry Or if using XP, do a system restore.

I don't think you affected the drives firmware, but as a last try, reflash your drive again.

My OS is Windows XP Pro (service pack 1)
I have tried nero, cdrwin, record now max and disk juggler, all have the same error.
i used RegClean to auto-clean the registry, i have just tried a system restore point, but didnt work.
I then went into RegClean files\BackUp and restored the registry to its former state before i had deleted any registrty settings.
yet still getting buffer under run error at the point of closing the disk(lead-out)
The only other thing i did before the error started to appear was to update nero's anti-virus plugin checker from the auto - update.
Arggggg... plz help, no room left on HD , need to burn to make space.
    any info appreciated.

Do a system restore from prior to when you used RegClean. Bring up system restore calendar and choose a restore point prior to using RegClean.

Ps. I don't think that RegClean 4.1a is compatible with XP. There are other registry cleaners that are much more accurate. Like jv16 power tools.

FOR ALL THOSE THAT DONT KNOW....
NEVER do an all in one reg cleaner
cause it always messes things up....
best thing to do its to install OS, then
sp1,if you want or can, then updates,
    programs,codecs, then use some kind
of drive image, i like drive image 2002,
if'll store an image on a drive for you,
then when things go wrong, just throw
ina floppy, wait 2 hrs,and everythings
    just like new....
