Hi All.
This problem occurs every time I capture. I'm running XP Home (NTFS) and using a Dazzle DVC2 to capture some Hi8 camcorder stuff. The files have been between 1 - 3 gb. There is no problem with the capture but when I subsequently navigate to the captured mpeg file windows I get a "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" dialogue box. The screen then goes back to desktop after XP closes down the window in which I was trying to view the file. Same happens if I'm using Media Player or Power DVD XP to navigate to the file but there are occasions when I can successfully get to it if i persevere and play the capture.
I have been saving the capture in C (master) and D (slave) (on same IDE channel). Both have plenty of free space (50gb) but the problem is still there. I have a P4 2.2 with 768 RAM on an ABIT BD7 m/b.
Doesn't happen as often when I'm using DVDMF2 to author a dvd.
The Windows Explorer error report I get mentions "AppName: explorer.exe, AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106, ModName: ntdll.dll" then there's loads of technical info included with the error report to M/S.
Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry - forgot to mention that I've used Moviestar ver 4.24 with XP patch to capture the camcorder footage.

sounds like the NT data link lib is corrupt....(windows nt is there under xp)
You can try try to reinstall the software, but more likely run a windows xp repair.
To do so, make sure your CD rom drive is the first boot device
Boot your machine with the win xp disk in th ecd rom drive.
when it asks the first time, tell it you want to run WIN XP install
when it comes back and says
Windows has already detected a copy of XP, would you like to run a REPAIR instead -REPLY R to repair
What that does is puts back all the winxp code without eliminating all your installed programs. It will however, take you back to native xp before any windows updates. You also sometimes have to reinstall print drivers and such...depends. This is how you fix xp without reisnatlling your whole system from scratch.
You could also look up the message at Microsoft support but ntdll is very general. -
Thanks mate. I'll give that a try and check the Microsoft site too.
