is it because the question is stupid or is it because the people who have viewed my forum dont know what im talking about. i think i heard its not compatible, but will it still work on sevral dvd players and by several i mean quite a few.

or is it because the people who have viewed my forum dont know what im talking about
    could be that.

could also be that you're pretty impatient, bumping this thread three times in one hour.

  7. That answer is quite simple, depending on certain
things of course, you should begin capturing way
higher, BTW what is cq? what capturing mode are
you using? which format? hop many episodes
and how long are they, you wanna fit to a dvd?
Some authoring programs will convert mpg to
dvd for you, depending on source... but then
you may run into audio problems cause source
is incorrect, it needs 48khz not 44.1...

no i am not capturing for i do not have a capture card although i wish, but right now i got other things in mine. what i am doing is i own a dvd of Sex and The City. and im ripping all of them and encoding to XVCD. and CQ is Constant Quality. its like VBR, but only 1 pass and you get great results. probably better than VBR. ill tell you you get better results than CBR. and yes i know about the whole audio needed to be 48 khz i know all that just wanna know if XVCD with CQ is compatible on most dvd players like a DVD-VCD would be?

I don't know anything about XVCD but I read that you can use a program like DVD-Lab to put SVCD (480x480) onto a DVD.

According to the author, he has had pretty good luck getting them to play back on his DVD players. I think SVCD is MPG2 and you have to of course change the audio to 48 kHZ. I'm not sure what XVCD is or what it uses.

Look here and see if that tells you anything.

EDIT: BTW, I really like CQ (Constant Quality) encoding too.

no no no this has nothing to do with SVCD i know its mpeg 2 i konw its 480*480 i know it has 44.1 khz audio and i know thats not standard audio. i know it has to be 48 khz and all of that. XVCD is MPEG 1 and XSVCD is MPEG 2

come on anyone. the question is not hard at all. the only reason i dont know is because i dont have a dvd-burner to test alot of things out. and being that alot of people in this forum have dvd burners well someone has to know what and how to make xvcds. and those that do proabably have tried to transfer them to dvd-r. i never XVCD neither, but these episodes are about 25 or 27 minutes average, and on the dvd each show is approximatly 1 GB in size and well i tried CVD with a bitrate of 2000 and the size was 400 MB per show and well i didnt like the resutls they were pretty crappy compared to the XVCDS i had made. yes im a big fan of CVD right now because i dont have a dvd burner, but when i do everything will be in dvd reseltuion, unless i already made them to cvds and they look good enogh to put on dvd which all of my cvds look good enogh to be on DVDS.
