Adding Chapter Points to .mpg files

All,

I'm trying to figure out if there's a simple program to add chapter points to my mpg file before dropping it into my DVD program. My dvd program (MyDVD) that I use does not allow the creation of chapter points after the fact, so I have to do it in an "outside" program.

Any suggestions?

Chapter points are a function of the authoring process, so your authoring program will need to be able to make them.

My major problem is that I'm using a bunch of freeware, can't afford "good" programs, and I'm basically doing the AVI->MPG conversion thing. But, I can't insert chapter points while encoding to mpg.

Is there no possible way to do this after the mpg has been created?

No I don't know of a seperated CHAPTER maker
BUT Three DVD authoring programs that support what you want to do
1. TMPGENC Author..$60
2. DVD Lab $100
3. DVD ARChitect $350

IFOEdit does have a DVD authoring mode where you can add chapters. It wouldn't be useful for anything else really, except this.

It is freeware - you may wish to try this.
